Many years ago my Dad was on business in South Carolina,
Having a few hours to kill he went for a walk, seeing an old timer fishing from a bridge he stopped for a chat, during the conversation my dad (a keen golfer) mentioned that "he had shot a 78 a few days previously ..."what in hell is a 78 ?" Says the old timer ... "You know .. Golf" says dad .. "You mean you chase that little bitty white ball around?" Asks the old timer .. "Errr yeah" replies Dad .. "Boy ! I ain't ever gonna spend that much time chasing something I can't eat or f@&k !!!" Is the reply from the local .. A fair point I think !!

For no good reason this reminded me of a friends fishing trip to America, they had a week on a lake in a cabin. The cabin was on stilts right on the waters edge with a raised walkway to get to it. He was delighted and spent a few days fishing form the veranda however he caught nothing, not a bite and in desperation went off to find some different bait and get some tips.
He was told to fish in the lake which was a mile or so away instead of in the flooded meadow....
