Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.

If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

Seems the issue is that they shoot ANYTHING and everything feathered, included anything protected, just for the hell of it. Apparently too slaughtering large birds for fun is some "coming of age" thing.

The idiots deserve what they got..killing just for fun is naff! Seemsa they were warned to stop or this would happen. Will post the article if I can find it.

They do seem to have ranges where you can shoot handguns though..........

We've got a Maltese bloke in one of my clubs, and was talking with him about this at the weekend...he reckoned that it was big money out there, with land owners renting shooting rights to thousands (literally) of shooters from all over the place.

It is, but irresponsible shooting and declining bird numbers are not factored in. Yes they can carry on as they are - until there are no more birds.
