Swiss bayonets

#1 Post by mag41uk »

I thought you might like to see my humble collection.
One of the 1889 pattern bayonets is quite special.
I have the matching rifle! ( as in serial number!)
In the following photo is from left:
Swiss 1 crop.jpg

1871 vetterli, 1911 pioneer, 1900 or 1889/92, 1878 pioneer, 1911 pioneer.
The 1900 bayonet was made from earlier 1871 vetterli bayonets and is very rare.

Very nice collection there! How did you manage to end up with a matching rifle and bayonet?

So the bayonet came by a different path to the rifle, did you buy the bayonet specifically for the serial number or was it just by luck?

I'd guess they came as a pair as it's a sec.58 rifle?

As per tommygun. Its sec 58.
I saw it advertised and couldn't believe it.
Never seen an all matching Swiss rifle and bayonet.
Somewhere is the matching bayonet for my K11 !
The Swiss rifle forum had an area where you could post for bayonet type and serial number.
I don't think many people have had any luck getting a match.

I did own a K11 until recently, which when bought came with an original matching serial numbered bayonet & frog. UK dealer bought in several like that also had K31's sadly no matching bayonets.
