Can't recall where I saw the information about the small bits of paper/plastic under the butt plates of Schmidt Rubin rifles. Can anyone enlighten me? Is there a book on these rifles?

North Cape publications do a Joe Poyer Swiss Magazine Loading Rifles 1869-1958.

Slips of paper with the owners name and contact detail were put under the butt plate in case they were left on buses and the like and could then be returned to the owner.

Sometimes they are there sometimes they are not.
