Looks very Georgian to me ... Not sure Tovarich Vladimir Ilitch, above on the wall would approve of that decadent petit bourgeois stuff !
Well ... At least, it's not magpul stuff ...

....waiting for a Commemorative Russian gun for the war years 1939-41

If '41-'45 was the Great Patriotic War, what is the previous two years of WW2 known as in Russia?

I saw an article about these a few days ago, there is a few old skool firearms being done up like that and given as prizes to military members who have excelled.

Saw a good few similar gold plated guns in the shop in New Zealand.

ONLY such gold item I ever felt a stirring for, was a GP35 "Asprey" High Power.
Very decorative without being OTT.

The rest are just drug-dealer/junta-dictator tastic.
About as much taste as a Magpul catalogue!

It's not referred to as anything IIRC? (other than the Eastern Front battle with Germany, the rest was of no significance to them)

it was called 'how we invaded Poland too, but no one talks about it because in the end we fought Germany too'

Russians first refered to "Patrotic War" when their borders were attacked & their land invaded in 1812 by the Frenchs. In reference to this, the "Great Patriotic War" term started when Mother Russia was invaded in June 1941 . It's that simple really O:-)

Well .... you might see it that way because you are a soft bleeding-heart decadent Kapitalist badger ... but I very much doubt "Man of Steel" Uncle Joe did, since :

a) the loses were quite "small vodka" in comparaison of the 1,5 millions people he had thrown into re-education camps and the 700K he had executed during his great purge,
b) the Soviet Union eventually won and he actually got more out of the Finns than he actually initially asked before the conflict,

Pfff ... no wonder the Oomans got you back to your sett... from the sound of it, we aint gonna see the Great October Badger Revolution in a hurry !
