New British Member From Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

#1 Post by bcshadow »

Hello All.

I am a Londoner, relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada many years ago.
I have joined this forum out of curiosity to learn more about hunting and shooting in the old country, and to share and ask for information. After a cursory glance through the posts, I am already a little shocked at the licencing requirements in the UK.

My interests are in hunting, though I do practice at the ranges to prepare myself and tune my guns before hunting season starts each year in September.

Because I am fortunate to live in Vancouver, British Columbia, there are exceptional game hunting opportunities. I hunt Mule and Whitetail Deer, Black Bear, Moose, Elk, Cougar and Grizzly, (when I win a limited entry hunting "draw"). Grouse and rabbits are a bonus during a large game hunt. During the winter season, after Deer hunting closes in mid December, I turn to predator hunting - Coyotes and more recently Wolves.

I will be happy to talk about hunting in BC with anyone who is interested, and I look forward to learning from the UK hunting and shooting community on this forum!

Thank you for the warm welcome. I will make my first attempt at inserting a picture of the local Oceanside park. Our House is on the far side of the water, and there is a trail that leads past a salmon hatchery near our house and then all the way around the inlet.
We are in a Greater Vancouver, suburban city called Port Moody. I should add, we have just experienced an arctic cold front that has brought snow (first in eight years!) and icy temperatures which are supposed to change to normal in the next couple of days.

Are the gun laws much different in Canada, i know they would be much stricter than America for example.
