Speechless from Hampshire - Variation
Last year I had a one-for-one variation take 5 months with Hampshire.
Last week I submitted another one-for-one and I just received it back completed ..... Speechless!!
Perhaps things are improving with Hampshire

A stopped clock tells the correct time twice a day!

No, I had the same. They are currently going down the electronic route by all accounts so things should work better long term.

They should get rid of the variation system and just make fac's like section 2 SGC's

Never going to happen. We will only ever see increasing scrutiny and control.
I've mentioned before, but a couple of times I've done variations on the spot - once at the Northern shooting show and once at police HQ - which proves it can be done. Everything else is just admin...

They should let RFD's handle one-for-ones.

Re: Speechless from Hampshire - Variation
I proposed this in my response to the consultation on firearms laws.
At the initial grant, an FAC should permit the holder to possess a number of firearms (say, 5) of a calibre appropriate to their good reason.
The holder can then buy and sell as they wish up to their maximum holding without requiring a variation. Each transaction would be recorded on the FAC and notified to the FLD.
A variation would only then be needed to increase the maximum holding.
