Brass export from NZ

#1 Post by fra150l »

Does anybody have any experience trying to get some (unprimed) brass out of New Zealand?

Being told I need export and import licence.

Told by who?

I brought back live ammo & a sound moderator.
No paperwork other than an Air New Zealand form.

No import paperwork needed to import brass to the UK.
Besides, the UK FAC is the import license for firearms.

Countries outside of the EU will certainly require a copy of an Import Licence prior to shipping to the UK as opposed to sight of an FAC. Interestingly and despite us currently being in the EU and an Import Licence being marked as used for imports from outside of the EU countries such as NL and DK will ask for a copy before they will allow permanent export.

Regarding the import of brass from NZ you should be fine however the exporter may still ask for an Import Licence and/or end user undertaking.

For firearms if it's a personal import you can use your FAC and a letter from Roy Smiles at ILB of DTI stating an import licence is not required.

Out of curiousity, how much demand is there for unused / used brass and in what calibres?

Thanks for the information. After to and fro about permits etc - each time asking if they actually have stock.... They don't have stock!
