I was at RAF Waddinton in 1980 with the cadets

It was a Vulcan base then

They'd do an engine warm up on the tarmac at 0600 every morning
Half or Lincolnshire was wobbling when that happened

Lovely planes - prefer them to the POS Tornado that 9 Sqdn went to later - not as good as a TSR2 though...! :run:

Sandgroper, like I say Grant we didn't see any sign of repair to the runway. Seeing the size of the holes that those thousand pounders made, I believe a repair to a hole that size on the runway would have been fairly noticeable. A thousand pound bomb makes a rather large hole in the ground.
