My son presented it to the Viking as a Christmas present along with a book on foraging in the hedgerows or similar and after we had stopped laughing I took a closer look and I must admit it seems quite handy and already has a reasonable edge. I might even give it ago when I am chopping kindling next time...

My Leatherman MUT with bit kit. I carry a Leatherman Charge on a daily basis and keep the MUT for range use as it's a bit big for UK EDC. But if shtf then the MUT's coming out :-)

I have a few to choose from. My personal favourite is a Randall No 1. followed by any of the large Chris Reeve knives. I have several of Chris's knives to choose from but if I had to pick one I would suggest the large 'Green Beret' knife. Alternatively they now make a version of the KABAR out of D2 tool steel.

I have one of these fellas. An LMF II Gerber and I'm confident it would be up to just about any job.

By survival , I assume you mean bushcraft/living in the woods kinda thing ? I used a privately purchased K-Bar in the army and it was a great knife. But today, without a shadow of a doubt, I'd pack my ESEE4... It is a very versatile knife, IMO, close to perfection with a near ideal ratio size/usage.

I think the one I would take form my modest collection would be the Fallkniven F1. Fantastic steel with good edge retention, convex ground and very, VERY sharp.
