The best alarm I have found is the 110dB expletive I utter when I forget to open the cabinet door gracefully and a selection of old English shotguns falls onto my bare toes.

For simple cabinet only alarming, have a look at shed / garage alarms. Self-contained, simple and cheap.

I'll look at the shed alarm route. Thanks

Guns falling out the cabinet won't be an issue. Cabinet is having to go on its back on the floor. The issue will be the weight of the door!

Black Powder Poacher Alarm would do the job...just unhook the wire every time you open the door or Happy New Tinnitus

In my old flat i used a battery powered pir alarm. Cost about a tenner. Came with a remote. Might as well get something like that and stick it inside. Door opens of it goes. Should be able to blip it from outside.

Avon and somerset wanted my alarm to be monitored. I asked if the crime level was that high where i was. He stuttered then said I'm sure what you have will be fine
When guns are outlawed, only Outlaws will have guns

Alan
I asked my Cambridge FEO this and he said no, 9 is the maximum for a single cabinet.

Leaning towards a PIR inside the cabinet. Will grab one over the weekend.

Alarms have never been discussed by my FLO. There are around 35 guns spread across 9 cabinets. Police are happy with our security and like our dog.

I thinks it's (or is now) standard Devon and Cornwall policy to specify an alarm. For a cheap PIR I'm not going to argue.

Are you sure they don't mean an alarm for the whole house rather than just the cabinet? After all if it goes off it'll only be people inside the house who will hear it.
