Finally my apologies for using the "W" word.
Consider the new T3 CTR, new for 2014, 20" barrel, threaded and with mag conversion and oversized bolt handle and cheaper I think than the Varmint (depending where you buy these from) I believe they retail for under £900 according to gunmart.

Lee is correct, my local dealer charged me a grand total of £895 which I think is great value for money.

That seems ridiculously cheap - as long as you don't need an edditional magazine.

You are spoilt for choices, you could go for a Manners, the fit is quite good, or a GRS or look at the chassis systems available, you could even look for a good S/H T3 Tactical stock which would not cost a great deal.

From a personal view I have fitted GRS and Manners stocks in the past and they are both well made and inletted and virtually drop in so they *should* be a DiY job for someone with basic tools who is handy with their hands. Also there are chassis such as they Whiskey-3 Chassis (Gen 3) which is superbly well made and thought out, I can personally vouch for them although they are quite pricey.
I didn't quite appreciate how much you could trick these rifles up with after market parts, it's interesting seeing what everyone is doing with them-some smart kit out there!
Obviously 10/22 and AR's are known for the after market bits, what other brands have a plethora of after market products?

We think the common theme is that the basic rifles are fundamentally sound, and therefore merit 'tricking up'. Otherwise it would just be proof that though you can't polish a turd, they can be rolled in glitter...

I can't understand why anyone would buy what is effectively a T3 Varmint with the addition of a Sako TRG magazine which is a very expesive item to replace/buy spares. I'd be inclined to by a straight T3 Varmint and fit it with AICS-compatible bottom metal which is available from a number of different sources.

There are more and more after-market products being produced for the T3.

As for Mr Badger - one assumes when he speaks of polishing turds he refers to tarting up Mosin-Nagants and the like?
