applying for firearm certificate.

#1 Post by dwdw »

I notice on Q14 it asks "reason eg target, vermin". I am new to shooting & want a gun as the rats are causing problems for my chickens. I mainly want to use a .22 for vermin control but could also do some target shooting. I am shooting on my property but if I put down target shooting will the police expect me to join a club for that? ie target shooting at a club & vermin control on my land?

Any thoughts ??

If you put down target shooting, you'll need to be a full member of a Home Office approved club.

If you put down vermin control, your land will need to be passed by the police as being suitable for the calibre you want.

Buy an air rifle. You won't need a licence, and the rats will end up just as dead. :good:

Clubs will require you to be a regular attender for six months before they will grant you full membership - then you can apply for your FAC based on being a target shooter.
