Presumably a straight pull?

Hornet good for shorter range, else 223Rem.

More like horses for courses...223rem brass costs against bullet costs... I'd just go for the purpose.

If you are foxing and more likely to take shorter range shots then the Hornet will not let you down.

I have a CZ452 in 22lr...fantastic shooter...CZ/BRNO are excellent gun makers.

I would stick with a CZ or BRNO BA in any calibre as opposed to a Mini 14 .

Mini 14s are not very accurate. If I were a fox and you pointed one at me I'd sue you.

I have no personal experience but in order to back up Mike's point above a bloke at our club had a Mini 14 for a few weeks and couldn't get any sort of reasonable accuracy out of it. He ended up very frustrated and so he sold it on. Hope this helps!

If you do a search of the Internet for Mini 14 you will find that most of the articles, queries, aftermarket parts are all directed at the accuracy. I have a friend who has spent over £1000 on upgrades and his will still not print under 2" at 100 yards.

The .223 models are the problem child, apparently the 7.62 (x54 I think) are OK but still not great. I read an article from the US recently that stated that the new models have sorted out the accuracy issues. I am not prepared to spend money on a new one to find out.

Having said that, the NRA have a couple for hire and I have had great fun with them. Do be mindful that the issue stock is quite short and replacements in the UK are rare.
