Buckmark LBP Modification

#1 Post by Dellboy »

I have a LBP Buckmark with a lightened barrel ,what I want is either a thicker barrel replaced on it or better still a barrel with a fixed moderator .
Is this possible , and how does it work with the section 5 section 1 rulings?
As the moderator is fixed it doesn't need a entry on my FAC does it ?

Any recommendations for doing this ?

Richard Pope at Swift Precision Rifles modded a couple of Buckmarks that my local shop had. Permanently attached moderators do not require a separate variation and the length of them counts towards the overall length of the barrel.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I'm presuming you mean as in permanently attached to the barrel and so count towards the overall length? Yes, no different.

Not sure what you mean
weights as an addition ,or the difference in weights of the barrel ?

Sorry, did not mean to break any rules. Just thought it could help two shooters out.

if its lightened then why not just go with a sleeve and turned bar to act as weights

thats how the one I built is done

barrel turned down and light, carbon fibre sleeve, end of barrel screwcut with an endcap for the carbon sleeve

then I had 2 weights, steel bar, od just under id of the carbon tube, bored to suit the od of the reduced barrel, could fit 1 at back, 1 at front or both, as the need or fancy took me
just as I thought I could see light at the end of the tunnel.......... I realised it was just my boss with more work and a torch.
