[quote] "I have a FAL and I think the open site picture is one of the best I've seen"...

Speaking of the Fal rifle you may find one of these cheaper than £3000 although the last one I saw for sale went for £2600 because the buyer could not get a L1A1.

It's not so much whether it's straight pull or semi-auto, as it takes the same amount of force either way. It's the fact when you pull the charging handle and your right hand is on the pistol grip, unless you wedge the stock in your armpit, the barrel waggles around all over the place because both hands are at the same end of the rifle. If you use your right hand to charge the rifle, your left hand is up front which means the barrel stays pointed where you want it because you have a hand at both ends. Do you see what I mean?

I appreciate on a semi-auto it's less noticeable because it happens less frequently, but at some point someone thought it was a good idea and I've never really understood the logic. Maybe it was designed by a left handed person... O:-)

But yes, on a straight-pull left cocking is a PITA.
This was one thing i liked on the ARB L1A1, was the right cocking lever. Most people disliked it because it wasn't original, and I'll agree it did look a bit weird, but it made sense when shooting it.

There was an IMBEL congo FAL that sold on here for £1650 not that long ago, which was way too cheap IMO, but he bought it cheap so it didn't matter to him.

There were 3 barrel lengths made as SP's 20"standard/18"congo/16"wasp. The 20" version are still in the £2600+ area the other 2 rifles are less desirable so are slightly cheaper. They also did a folding stock version called the para with a 18" barrel.

How about £3995 for a Imbel Fal but a .22rf original only 10 made, for sale uk dealer.
