Is it possible 6.5x55 rechamberd to 6.5x47

Is it possible to re chamber a 6.5x55 barrel in 6.5x47. If so what sort of money are we looking at. A short action is available to fit the barrel into.

It very much depends on what the remaining barrel life and profile at the chamber end is.

Basically, it would be a matter of chopping off the chamber, cutting a new tenon thread and reaming a 6.5x47 chamber - exactly as you would with a new barrel. A gunsmith would probably charge you c. £250 plus proofing.

That is of course assuming that the profile is heavy enough at the thick end to give you a 'shoulder' support against the action.
