Bare rifle - around 6.5kgs would be a good starting place.

Yeah I was thinking 6.5 to 7kg minimum.the original AI type pod would be good for extra ballast as they are definately the heaviest pod I've came across.

Add a decent sound moderator, reasonable scope and a bipod and you should be around 9,5kgs which is doable.

I'd look at this the other way, Whats the max you can cope with and build it to that. .338 kicks a bit and any wait helps. My barnard 338 weights well over 11kg

Blimey not sure who said that but nowhere near 95grs maybe 91 of n570 or 87 of n170 and getting 2870 fps with a 300gr scenar (with the n570). You get less kick from a 200gr bullet, and your welcome to try mine if you want.

95g of N570 works just fine with Scenar 250g.

Fully agree with Tisme....you want weight.

Mine kicks like a 308....no problem at all.

One of my options is about 7kg with bare rifle.then add a pic rail.bipod rings and a scope ( mk4 ).my informant was a little out on how many grains of N570 but he was right on the good velocities you were getting.how far have you pushed the envelope with it.i know you shot your 260 and 7mm 08 out 1500yds plus.
Hi Dave.
Do you only shoot the 250gr scenars.how far have you shot out too.i was watching some videos on YouTube the other day watching somebody pushing to 3000yds.

I have only got to 1330 but the obstacle is lack of a spotter and on Salisbury plain its very hard to see splash and make corrections......the 250g is good for much further.

However, if I can ever get a supply of 300g Bergers I am going over to them as they stay supersonic way further out.
