SALT Non-lethal defense pistol

24" and less, a place to discuss all things handgun related, section 7.3. Long barrelled revolvers, long barrelled pistols and section 5. Overseas contributions are more than welcome.

SALT Non-lethal defense pistol

#1 Post by Nelly2014 »

If you look at Youtoob and flick through the '5 best inventions' type of stuff you will come across the above. It appears to be a CO2 powered pistol that fires salty balls that break up on impact and release some noxious irritating powder to dissuade intruders.
What a cracking idea eh? But no doubt it would be 'throw away the key' territory if you tried to use one in Nanny UK shakeshout

The word "noxious" is specifically mentioned in legislation..........

So, a paintball gun firing itching powder?

It'll make £billions$ & the criminals will refuse to get out of bed for an honest days thuggery, buggery, burglary & general mayhem. Or not.

You'd be better off with these:

I believe it has been clarified that paint for marking and identification doesn't count as a noxious substance so is considered kosher. It doesn't have an irritant but realistically your best bet is to leg it and mark the toe rags so the police can pick up on it later.

Also you said 'salty balls'. lol

I am a child it would seem.

Realistically, sometimes legging it is not an option...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Realistically that happens in a statistically insignificant amount of cases. In those situations no sort of fart gun, paintball or spray are going to do the job :)

It's an old concept . Cartridges loaded with salt were used as non-lethal rounds. Before electronic alarms were invented, little canons firing those "salt cartridges" were quite common.
Want to shoot pistol ? Don't retreat... reload & run forward !!
