Geordie:
Hugs and best wishes,
Jolly Jack
Sorry mate us Army lads were never into Hugs or Rum Bum and baccy for that matter mate, much preferred to leave that to you ladies in the Senior Service. Hey lets face it Jack, you Matelot's only when out at night so's no one would see you all mincing about, still I guess it doesn't make you bad people.:55:

All in all aye it was good fun back in those days.

Blu, I am pleased I left the Royal Navy when I did as I heard a rumour that Tony Blair/Bliar was going to make homosexuality compulsory in the forces.
But as the Army was 99% gay anyway the job was done for him LOL !!!!!

Geordie: Aye but it was only a rumour, that was one of the reasons they allowed women on ships mate, it was to see if they could turn all the nice boys away from the sh**ters and back to the shankers. tongueout

All the nice boys love a sailor
All the nice boys love a tar
For there's something about a sailor
(Well you know what sailors are!)
Bright and breezy, free and easy,
He's the gay boys pride and joy!
He falls in love with Keith and Jake, then he's off to sea again,
Ship ahoy! Ship ahoy!

I remember when I was a kid, back in the 1950's there was a "penny in the slot" type machine on Brighton pier that was much the same idea. A rifle on a swivel mount with basic open sights was lined up with a 10 bull card target, when the trigger was pulled there was a hefty clonk and the target was pierced with a spike about 2mm diameter. After the 10 shots the target was delivered down a chute to the shooter. Very accurate, as I recall, and I seem to think it was a meaningful rifle, not some plastic kids affair. (probable a surplus Jungle carbine  )

It is fact that there is more "up hill gardening" taking place in the Army and the Crab Corps than in the RN.
