He thought it was an SMLE when he called me up, I then got quite excited at the prospect of a free .303 but never mind. It was quite rusty and unloved so I've taken it to bits, cleaned all the rust off, oiled it and put it back together. It's amazing what cola will take off, the butt plate had quite a bit of 'corrosion' on it which the coke took straight off. It polished up nicely and now it hanging on the wall minus the bolt which I hope the originally owner will find as it would be great to have the complete piece.

I have a Chassepot bolt action 16 bore, its a bit of an odd beast. Not sure if it was built like it or converted.
