Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.
Promote BASC films which tell the real story about
grouse moors, jobs and conservation
BASC has produced a series of short films dispelling the myths about grouse moors and shooting.
Please view the films here and pass on the message through email and social media.
The films aim to counter the propaganda and myths spouted by the likes of anti-grouse shooting extremist and BBC presenter Chris Packham in the build-up to the start of the grouse shooting season on August 12.
The films highlight the importance of grouse shooting to local businesses and its unique role in conservation. On Twitter, the film is linked to #NoMoorMyths.
The first film, featuring gamekeeper Jack Depledge, has already been shared extensively across social media after being released on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. On Facebook alone, it has reached more than 21,000 users and been viewed almost 6,500 times.
Don’t let the anti-grouse-shooting extremists have their way
We need you and your pro-shooting friends and relations to vote in an online opinion poll to stop the antis winning.
Chris Packham is at it again. The celebrity anti shooting campaigner is trying to bully Marks & Spencer into stopping selling grouse this season. And he has enlisted the help of a tabloid newspaper, The Daily Mirror, which is running several negative stories about grouse shooting on its website. Visitors to the site are being asked to vote in an online poll: Should M&S drop plans to sell red grouse?
We are urging all BASC members to visit the site and vote NO on the poll link. Please circulate this email to your pro-shooting contacts and ask them to vote as well.
The Mirror stories are heavily biased against shooting. One highlights Packham’s campaign. Another is headlined: Glorious Twelfth: Restaurants urged to scrap grouse from menus as bloodthirsty gunmen prepare for hunting season and quotes Tom Quinn of the League Against Cruel Sports.
We want to show them that they’ve got their attitude to shooting very wrong.
Click here to visit the Mirror website where you can vote in the poll.

Grouse shooting is under heavy attack from the antis. If grouse shooting is banned they’ll move to all shooting next. We need your help now.
Tomorrow is the Glorious Twelfth, the start of the season. BASC is working to dispel the myths about grouse shooting and has produced a series of films making the key points for social media.
Where does your MP stand
on banning grouse shooting?
After a public petition reached more than 100,000 signatures the House of Commons may debate calls to ban grouse shooting. The RSPB is calling for a licensing system.
We need your help now.
To brief MPs effectively we need to know where your MP stands on grouse shooting.
BASC has set up a campaign website where members can lobby their MPs by email. You can lobby your MP here:
