Like it or not, not every cartridge is going to get the job done when it comes to keeping you and your family safe from the incoming zombie horde; Hornady had the right idea in making its Zombie Max Ammo available in a wide variety of calibers. That’s why we’ve picked our top eight calibers — four for handguns, and four for rifles.

But it’s not that simple. We can’t just pick eight that we think will best service our zombie-splattering needs. Remember, we have two contradictory tasks we may need to fulfill: stoppers to deal with fast-movers, and poppers to give clean head shots as finishers. You can’t have both; that’s just the way life is. Plus, we may be a long time between re-supply, and we might have to use whatever we can find.

Anything you can get your hands on I guess. We're not allowed "self-defence" or "man-stoppers" so it'll be a case of routing through the safe.

For me, .303 and a .44 BP revolver. Though I could make a very slow shotgun with revolver balls and a Brown Bess :?

22lr - Plenty about and it's better than getting too close,
12 gauge - as above,
5.56/223 - again plenty about, esp if you take into account Police/Mil stocks
7.62/308 - as above
9mm - If you have a pistol or a rifle in it, again Police/Mil stocks,

and whatever else was lying about!

For me, .303 and a .44 BP revolver. Though I could make a very slow shotgun with revolver balls and a Brown Bess :?

At the very least, you lay down smoke with the BP or if you know what you're doing - make a few of them go bang at the same time!

Agreed, once all of the gun shops have been emptied you're going to have to start looking for Police/military vehicles to 'aquire' ammo from, or if you're feeling lucky military armouries

8 Best, well this is the UK so assuming I need to go looking for the stuff I am going to be quite limited

12 Guage/Bore as it has to be one of the most common things in a shooters house.
