I agree.

Really?

OK, then, both of you, please show how those things caused us to squander our oil revenues, to fail to invest in our manufacturing base, to leave the EU and to repeatedly elect governments with a stated ideological aim of cutting NHS spending, cutting education spending, trashing care homes, and running down stocks of PPE.

And a couple of other things I forgot at the time, please show how they were responsible for multinational companies deciding for themselves how much they should pay in taxes, and how they gave us the situation where foreign newspaper owners get to say who shoud be PM and what government policy should be.

Feel free to be intelligent and rational and to base your arguments on verifiable truths.

Assuming, that is, that you are actually capable of being intelligent, and rational, and that you care about the truth.

Err - I never mentioned anything about race, so I don't know why you did.

As for you not being intolerant, if you think that this:

"It's being "inclusive" that's got this country in the mess it's in, what with "cultural diversity and enrichement" and folks not knowing whether their "Arthur or Martha/gender neutral/identifying as a Ford Capri so they can take inclusiveness and diversity and stick it where the monkey stuck his nuts as far as I'm concerned!"

betokens tolerance then you need a new dictionary - yours is broken.

I don,t normally see your posts because I have blocked you but I choose to read this one. You are very angry for some reason. Do you drink. What do you do for a living. I work in Research Oil and Gas. I think I am probably reasonably intelligent and rational enough to know that I should never ever vote labour ever again.
If you would like a rational discussion about North sea oil and gas then lets have one I was involved in a 36" gas pipeline bringing it a shore to the North East of England as well as lots of other projects along the way.

Any way did you manage to ever get you hands on a fire arm and have a go.
What club have you managed to worm your way into.
When do you expect to apply for a firearm certificate.
As a Club Secretary I invite you to come along and spend a day shooting with us free of charge.
But just so you know our members are made up of.
Police Firearms officers.
Serving Military and retired officers.
Members of the National Health service.

Not one of them is a Labour voter I am afraid..

And lots of others.
Solicitors.
Barristers.
Chemical Engineers.
Process Engineers.
Autocad Engineers. etc etc etc.

Come along be my guest we would love to have a conversation with you. PM me and when this lock down is over I will make it happen
Unless you have found a local Club of course. I would guess that they are all reasonably intelligent people so you should have no issues in you discussions with them.

I am not jesting take me up on the offer I will put on a full shooting day for you providing you can let me know so I can inform the local authorities were you are serving your probationary membership.

If you would like to discuss the across Pen-nine gas lines that we have helicopters inspecting every day and the off shore oil and gas stuff.
Gas power stations as opposed to multi fuel sprayed wood chip from Russia in the North east of England. PM me I am more than happy to have the conversation with you. If you think you can make a contribution or get involved send me a CV.

Or as you said maybe I am just stupid.

Should I feel no anger about a government which does things for ideological reasons even though they cause unnecessary hardships, even deaths, nor that people vote for them because they want those things?

Should I feel no anger when, having calmly and perfectly politely, said that cultural diversity and enrichment, and the tolerance of people who express non-binary genders, are not the causes of any of the significant problems we have, other people think that it's OK to say that what I said was a load of b***ocks?

Actually, I don't feel anger about that, nor can asking (again, without any abusive language) people who do think that to come up with an intelligent and soundly based argument showing that those things did get "this country in the mess it's in" reasonably be taken as an indication of anger.

I wonder if, in fact, it is you who should look at how you react to people with different views which you don't like.

Do you drink.
If you mean do I sometimes consume alcohol, yes.

If you mean do I habitually do so to excess or in a problematic way, no.

Right now, for example, I am completely sober.

What do you do for a living.
I'm retired.

I work in Research Oil and Gas. I think I am probably reasonably intelligent and rational enough to know that I should never ever vote labour ever again.
Are you one of those who wants the NHS to be cut, who wants disabled people to die of starvation, who wants an increase in child poverty, who wants school buildings to fall apart, who wants PPE stocks for health workers and care home assistants to be inadequate?

If you would like a rational discussion about North sea oil and gas then lets have one I was involved in a 36" gas pipeline bringing it a shore to the North East of England as well as lots of other projects along the way.
Does your expertise in those areas of oil and gas production lead you to think that the UK did a better job of retaining and benefiting from the revenues than Norway did?

Any way did you manage to ever get you hands on a fire arm and have a go.
You seem to have missed the fact that I used to shoot, and used to have an FAC and used to own firearms.

This might be because you've decided not to read what I write, a decision which has inevitably led you into ignorance of what I have said.

What club have you managed to worm your way into.
What makes you think that I should have to "worm" my way into a club to become a member?

When do you expect to apply for a firearm certificate.
There is no point me telling you that again - you obviously cannot or will not understand the straightforward situation I have outlined more than once.

Oh - and BTW, your decision to not read my posts means that you are ignorant of the fact that I had arranged to go along to a club but it got cancelled becase of the coronavirus lockdown.

It might be best for all concerned if you returned to not reading, and therefore not replying, to my posts.

As a Club Secretary I invite you to come along and spend a day shooting with us free of charge.
To a club where the secretary thinks that I'd have to worm my way in?

I don't think so.

Does it have a bar, BTW? Not that that would be important to me, I just wondered if you are suspicious of anybody who isn't a tee-totaller.

But just so you know our members are made up of.
Police Firearms officers.
Serving Military and retired officers.
Members of the National Health service.
So?

Do any of them drink?

Not one of them is a Labour voter I am afraid..
So?

Surely you don't think that having socialist politics is somehow incompatible with being a shooter?

Do you think that only people with right-wing views should be allowed to own guns?

Come along be my guest we would love to have a conversation with you. PM me and when this lock down is over I will make it happen
As I said, no thanks - you really do not come across as being welcoming.

Unless you have found a local Club of course. I would guess that they are all reasonably intelligent people so you should have no issues in you discussions with them.
One would hope that everybody was intelligent enough to not think that the mess that the country is in is because of cultural diversity and enrichment, and the tolerance of people who express non-binary genders, but....

I am not jesting take me up on the offer I will put on a full shooting day for you providing you can let me know so I can inform the local authorities were you are serving your probationary membership.
Is that notifying a legal requirement?

I fail to see what any of that has to do with the politico-economic decisions on how we handled the revenues from North Sea oil and gas.

Or as you said maybe I am just stupid.
I didn't say that.

I invited you to show how [cultural diversity and enrichment, and the tolerance of people who express non-binary genders] caused us to squander our oil revenues, to fail to invest in our manufacturing base, to leave the EU and to repeatedly elect governments with a stated ideological aim of cutting NHS spending, cutting education spending, trashing care homes, and running down stocks of PPE, and how they were responsible for multinational companies deciding for themselves how much they should pay in taxes, and how they gave us the situation where foreign newspaper owners get to say who shoud be PM and what government policy should be.

And I did so without using any terms of abuse.

I asked that when you replied that you did so in and intelligent and rational manner, basing your arguments on verifiable truths.

As for "Assuming, that is, that you are actually capable of being intelligent, and rational, and that you care about the truth", is that so unreasonable when all you've come up with so far is saying you agreed that what I said to snayperskaya was "a load of bxxxocks"? Be fair - it wasn't really an intelligent rebuttal, was it.

But the offer is open for you to make one, although it seems I do have to point out that none of the issues involved have anything to do with oil and gas exploration or extraction and distribution engineering, so there's no point in going on about those.

I'm not getting into it with you, as it will just escalate and things will be said so we'll just leave it there if that's ok with you.Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post though :good:
