Plated .22LR, indoor use yes/no?

#1 Post by Charlotte the flyer »

Is .22lr plated ammunication (such as CCI MiniMag etc) classed as FMJ ammunition for the purposes of determining whether it can be shot indoors to a steel plate backstop? My indoor club has such as setup, full pistol caliber FMJ is banned but I'm not sure about the .22.

Thoughts?

I would say no as it is only a copper wash as opposed to a copper jacket.

It's the same at my club. Jacketed rounds aren't allowed at our indoor range, but copper washed / plated .22LR like CCI minis and Federal are fine.

And the same goes for our club... Copper washed like minimag are ok on ranges, true fmj rounds only on some !
