As has been mentioned elsewhere on this forum regarding online use and presence, online petitions/polls/faceshite as examples, the lack of NRA candidate response here in this thread yet again proves that not all shooters are using the online world as a communication tool.

A lot of shooters go to their local club and discuss the state of affairs with their fellow shooters, perhaps sign a petition if it is on a piece of paper when they are at the club.

This is not to say that they are not online and do not understand the use of a PC, just that they choose not to use these forms of media.

Er but as I said most of them are probably unaware of this forum - unless someone actually tells/invites them to contribute how are they going to know?

Very true but also does rely on the committee of the club wanting to support that, if they decide (for the benefit of their members) that such a piece of information is not worth sharing then they in effect police that communication.

As regards the lack of use of forums by shooters i think that the behaviour of a small minority on them dissuades a number of others from participating.

While it would be nice to be able to interrogate every candidate as to why they want to run for the post I doubt that more than 10% would actually be prepared to undergo such an examination.

Actually,to be honest, I cannot see why (were it doable) members of affiliated clubs should not have a vote.

They may not pay the full fees, but they contribute via club fees and range fees.

While not enjoying the various joys the NRA membership offers (range use, insurance, legal advice, crappy markers etc etc) the what goes on within the NRA affects them as well.

PS....I am a member, I have voted, but I am afraid there were only 3 that floated my boat...let alone agonizing over it (and one of them was reluctantly coshes an exe crab!!!)

I have now heard officially that the election results have been announced and that I was not fortunate enough to be elected to the General Council.

Thank you all who took the effort to cast your votes and in particular those that voted in my favour. There were 13 candidates for only 5 places and I congratulate the 5 that were elected or re-elected to the General Council.

I will still continue to challenge the NRA when I see things I don’t like or agree with; only by challenging the association can they have any idea that they are not doing want members want. I have congratulated them in the past when they have got it right and hope to do so regularly in the future as they continue to grow and improve the ‘Bisley’ experience.

All the above were elected as Ordinary Members of General Council.

It was reasonably close as you can see and I again thank all that voted for me.

Disappointing to see you did not make it John, we need as much representation for the 'alternative' disciplines as possible. Regardless of this I would like to say thank you to you for standing and and hopefully next time things will be very different.
