Excellent indeed - He could have also insisted on better labelling as it is shockingly poor & useless in this country.
I am all in favour of eating product sourced as locally as possible but, of course, for choice, I would rather purchase foreign non-religious product than the "British halal slaughtered" or foreign non-GM food than the so called "British" GM stuff.

Froggy, +1...........what is interesting, though, is that in France, I've found the local market prices are usually lower than the shops and supermarkets.

In Hampshire, it's the opposite............

I am too with Yves and I can pay 2£ pp for milk if I know it ends in farmers pocket,not big corporation account...

One litre of milk that is paid €uro 0.34 to the French farmers producing it, is sold in super-markets for around € 1.5 ... Like you guys, I much prefer to give my money to the guy that gets up early morning that to the share holder that stays in bed. Not to mention that stupid plastic milk bottle that I paid for ... Sadly in central London I have not got much choice ;)
