XdM 3.8 9mm sec7.3

24" and less, a place to discuss all things handgun related, section 7.3. Long barrelled revolvers, long barrelled pistols and section 5. Overseas contributions are more than welcome.

XdM 3.8 9mm sec7.3

#1 Post by bradaz11 »

Here is my new sec 7.3 pistol, and new it was! looks unfired to me. the polymer under the muzzle has now gone rather black after 200 rnds through it. It cleaned up a bit, but I doubt it will ever come back to looking like this

Love it!

Is that one of the MoD's trials pistols from last year?

If it can fulfill requirements for sec 58 but you want to shoot it, so it goes as 7.1 or 7.3

if it is unique, historical, of technical interest or just very rare.

this explains in a bit more detail...
http://www.bedfordgunclub.co.uk/heritage.html

the above gun is of historical interest because it was part of the trials held by the MoD when they replaced the Hi-power with the Glock 17, so you have to show to the Police / Home Office what your collection is, and why the gun fits it.

no-one would really give me much advice TBH

next up, I have my eye on another trials gun, but I also would like a webley 455 of some sort too

Read the Home Office guidance first Joe. It's not very straight forward. Still very restrictive and to tell you the truth a far bigger pain in the ar$e than you can imagine. The novelty soon wears off with all of the rigmarole.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

from what i've read, getting a brand new imported Glock is very unlikely to be able to have on 7.3

Thanks to Froggy, I had a go on one of those in the Czech Republic, I liked it almost as much as a Glock,
Careful now/that sort of thing

yeah, so did my GF when we went in July. I prefer it more to the Glock. I do want to try a Sig P228 though
