Thanks David - I've seen other rifles take-down by that method, but yours in the first M-S.

It is not a quick procedure as it probably takes a minute to remove the front screw and drop the wood off then back of the action screw and finally wind the barrel out however it is all with one blade and the screws are timed so you know when they are correctly tightened.

A fine looking rifle indeed!, how old is it may I ask?.

The rifle is around 115 years old and was converted by George Gibbs around 1905 so 110 years in this form. Gibbs should still have the records and offer a search service for GBP25+VAT which will tell me a bit more.

If only it could talk, it would have some interesting tales to tell I bet.They certainly knew how to make things to last years ago.Let us know how it shoots
