Ahooj ,

After a quick flight after work from Gatwick to Prague, I welcomed some members of my shooting club who made it over to the CR for some pistol shooting .

The range we used this time was in Vrazkov about 30 miles from Prague . Pistols were the theme, so a selection of hand guns were provided, including some revolvers for those missing the pre-97 ban, ie : a sub-nose S&W 38 sp, a 3's French Manhurin MR73 357 and a S&W 44 and the usual selection of pistols, classic vintage & recent in all sort of calibers ranging form 32 to 45.

The week-end was pure recreational, not a class, so the static shooting was taking place, according to Czech Law, under the supervisions of 2 local RO friends, both ex-paras. Saturday was pistols only, with most people trying them all & having informal & friendly "challenges" on a wide range of either static or moving targets.
Personnaly I focused on using my CzP01 Omega both for pure 25 meters accuracy on static targets and "fast" practical shooting from holster on moving ones. I also had the pleasure to instruct our less experience shooter with a Beretta 22Lr (ex-IDF stock, so I assume Mossad issued). By the end of the week-end I was delighted with her progresses and she was consistently & confidently hitting a 6 inches target at 15/18 yards . "Skutecny Ostrostrelec" ... Result !! :good:

Both the Uzi & Skorpio proved very enjoyable & accurate in her hands.

Maybe, she was just inspired by the all "no Nonsense" attitude very much prevalent in the CR nowdays...

Anyway ... the weather was very cold with frequent snow falls & the bar of the club was providing a much appreciated place for tea & breaks as well as serving us traditional "Czech comfort food". We got quite lucky as a deer recently killed by a local member had made its way on the menu... so a delicious "Srnci Gulash" was served.

Sunday was a little less frantic, probably due to the Prague bars "cultural visit" we had the night before. However, it was very much the same with, in the afternoon, the added opportunity to try some rifles the way they were intended & that we can not enjoy in the UK

Time came too fast & it was time to head back to the UK, enabling the participants the pleasure to go back to work on monday looking forward a 22lr LBP pistols next WE O:-)

Bloody hell that looks cold, it was bad enough last February without the snow. If you do it again at a more clement time of year, I hope to join you again.

Where did you stay this time, not Black Bridge I suspect!

Yep, all citizens are equal in the EU.....

.22lr pistols were very common PDWs for off duty IDF in Israel for a long time.

Ruger 10/22s were used for riot control.

The humble .22 can still serve. But still love the CZ, Yves! What was the temperature?

Nice write up.

I used to have a little Modello 71 like that, bought it from a Sabre who was either ex-El Al air marshal or the deadlist Mossad agent ever, depending on how many beers he had drunk. Great little shooter tho, really miss it

Some shooters wanted to see a little of Prague as well as shooting, so, indeed, Shugie, we were staying at the same hotel as you did in Cerny Most, as it is most conveniently 30 mns equidistant, from the City center by metro, and to the range by car. So it was "Welcome to Socialist-Realism" !! BTW, I found out this W-E, that most of the streets there are named after Czech pilots flying with tha RAF during WW2.

Not sure about the RPK but having the task to reload I can tell you for sure the drum is ... ;)

Those Beretta are indeed brilliant. Thanks Sim, I did not realised they were in more general issue in the IDF and not just special units. We initially got two for beginers but I must confess I take great pleasure shooting them. To help my "student" focusing her aim, we played a game of shooting a black target paster sticker. Despite the short sight radius, the pistol is well capable. As far as the P01 is concerned, the more I shoot it the more I love it. IMO, it is an amazing all rounder. If I had to keep only one pistol, it would be the one.

We actually just escaped the worst of the cold wave, -20, and during the day it was just couple of degrees below 0 Celsius with intermitent snow falls. No worries "So British Blaireau", last early september was hot at around 35 C and making lake swimming at the end of each day very pleasant.
