Best place for a lamp on a rifle?

I need to mount a lamp on a rifle, I have always located lamps above the 'scope however the rifle always seems to be cumbersome in such a format so I was thinking of to the side or under the front forend however I also seem to remember this leads to issues with glare.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I use an "figure 8" clamp onto the scope you can then mount the torch at any angle you wish, glare is only a problem if you are using a thick bodied mod and have the torch too close to the barrel centreline.

If you get glare you can cover bottom 3Rd of scope with black insulation tape and it stops it

I use hockey tape as it is matt finished and does not leave a residue.
