There was a couple of lines in our local paper saying his body had been found by an Italian search party about 8 miles from the crash site. I'll post if I find any more information.

I was in the Lakes a few months ago and going up to Hellvellyn via Striding Edge and back down Swirrel Edge to the Tarn. While I was going back down to Glenridding I noticed 2 guys coming up and they had diving equipment with them. I asked what the hell they were doing and they told me that a Mosquito aircraft crashed into Striding Edge and once the bodies had been recovered, the aircraft remains had been dumped into Red Tarn.
So they were going to dive and film the remains. It had been filmed before but in the early 90s apparently.
When my late father-in-law did his national service it was with the RAF. As he was a keen mountaineer one of his tasks was to search out the wrecks on the Northern hills and bury them. Shame he didn't keep any records!

Sangroper, the real swastika is righthanded and a sign of good. Hitler commissioned a new flag and the one we know was the winner but it had a righthanded swastika. Hitler reversed the swastika to lefthanded which is a symbol of evil.

Isn't that what I said?
During the Second World War the Finn's markings on their aircraft and vehicles consisted of a un-tilted right facing swastika http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Finla ... border.svg The Finnish use of the swastika was independent of Nazi Germany and originated from a good luck symbol* painted on one their first aircraft.
BTW this is the flag of the Finnish Air Force, Training Air Wing.

The 'left' and 'right' versions do not represent good and evil. The swastika irrespective of direction was regarded as a symbol of good fortune throughout the ancient world, from Scandinavia to Greek, Roman, Middle East, India, Slavs, Celts, Native Americans and Asian cultures. It is a worldwide symbol that was appropriated by the Nazi's and since then, had it's original meaning tainted and besmirched by association. In 2007 the EU (under German leadership) tried to ban the swastika but the proposal was quietly dropped after an opposition campaign by Hindu groups across Europe against the ban. They pointed out that the swastika has been around for 5,000 years as a symbol of peace.

Ancient Roman mosaic. Note the left and right facing swastikas as well as the stylised ones.

American aviatrix Matilde Moisant (1878-1964) wearing a swastika medallion in 1912; the symbol was popular as a good luck charm with early aviators.

And we all recognise this one ****

The colours are the recognisable part as much as the image. As an example:
