So you take a S/A buntline allready on a sec 1 and you cut the barrel down and add a coathanger (as an RFD or do you need to be ? ) .Assuming the proof marks are not removed and you dont sell the gun does it need reproof ?

I would add the coathanger before cutting the barrel. (and keep a pictorial log.)
re- whether it needs a re-proof, maybe a grey area, but that would only be required on sale/transfer/offering for sale tec. as per the proof acts.

You mean like this: https://shootingshed.co.uk/wp/2018/06/revolver-work/

Barrel off, manufacture and permanently attach the extension (Tig and hardened blind pin) Shorten barrel, re-fit the sight and then the barrel. Yes, you have shortened and impacted the mechanical integrity by drilling tapping holes so a Proof is the best way forward.

Take care to support the frame properly as they can twist if you are unlucky. I use this: https://shootingshed.co.uk/wp/2018/09/a ... er-wrench/

From memory not really. We mostly do them within the trade which suits me and I think we have 3 or 4 in right now to be worked on.
