Modding a Pietta New Model Army .44

If you are making it or modifying it, repairing it or restoring it, it goes in here.

That looks a cracking job - now we're going to need to see some targets. :)

For the serial number, you could try etching it on. . .

You need some of this:https://uk.farnell.com/kontakt-chemie/p ... /dp/801010.

Spray it onto the gun in the right place and allow to dry
Create a negative image of the number on transparent film - I use my computer and print onto acetate sheets, but there are lots of ways of doing it.
Place the negative over the sprayed area and expose to UV light.
Develop the image by swabbing with a little caustic soda solution.
Etch using ferric chloride. The longer you leave it, the deeper the etch, but I don't know how it will react to stainless steel.
Emphasise the image with blueing.
Clean it all off with acetone.

Cheers, I'll try experimenting with it for future use.

Cheers, I'm well pleased with it - and SOOO grateful I didn't arse up the cutting the barrel and leveling off bit.

I'm hoping to get some range time in within a few weeks.
There is one target already up - from when I was experimenting with a rough and ready sight made from a bit of brass rod stuck in blue tack. Obviously I'm hoping to improve on that!
