Spring for Vickers action

If you are making it or modifying it, repairing it or restoring it, it goes in here.

Spring for Vickers action

#1 Post by mikygpu »

Another question for Gunsmithing
I have a fellow chap who is looking for a spring similar to one in Vickers machine gun.
It is the one that looks like a hair clip in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG2YfcAJrtU
From 2:01 it can be seen in dark red / burgundy, in between the green firing pin hold up link and the firing pin. I would say it is the firing pin spring, but as I am not too familiar with Vickers mechanism, I am leaving at that.
He tried 3d printing it but it fails. Either is too hard and snaps, or it is too soft and doesn't do the job.
Any advice?

Many thanks for that.
I think he might need more than one as they are restoring Vickers.
