Second Lock Down

#1 Post by Christel »

We all anticipated this, I am sure.

Will be interesting to see where it leaves game shoots in November.

And MOD shoots.

Are gun shops / gun smiths essential?

Post Offices?

These are the new restrictions for England:

Only leave your home for specific reasons - education, work if you cannot work from home, exercise, medical reasons, to escape injury or harm, shop for food and essentials, and provide care for vulnerable people, or as a volunteer
No mixing of households inside homes, except for childcare and other support
No mixing of households outside, except for exercising or visiting a public place with one other person
All pubs, bars and restaurants to close - takeaways and deliveries allowed
All non-essential retail to close but supermarkets can still sell non-essential goods - click and collect can continue
Leisure and entertainment venues to close, including gyms
International travel out of the UK banned, except for work
Travel within the UK discouraged, except for work
Work places should stay open where people cannot work from home
Support bubbles remain
Children allowed to move between homes if parents separated
Outdoor exercise and recreation encouraged and is unlimited - only with your household/bubble, on your own or with one other person from a different household (golf is not allowed)
People can sit on park benches and have picnics as long as it is with their household
Services in places of worship banned but private prayer permitted
Funerals allowed with close family members only

I would imagine that gunshops/gunsmiths would be deemed non-essential, MOD range shoots will be cancelled but Post Offices will remain open as they were during the first lockdown.

if you can work from home/workshop then I see no reason to close, if the customer can call and drop something off or pick something up, then where is the difference betwen that and take away food? or me knocking on your door to repair /service your boiler ? or Amazon delivering your order ?
anything to do with the MOD ? I would expect the normal risk averse response.

Sorry Christel.....I forgot you are gunsmiths/gunshop

I would imagine you'd still be able to work, I was thinking that general retail gun shops, like Kranks for example, would have to close like they did before......but I could be wrong

snayperskaya, no worries, my questions have nothing to do with what we do for a living, we know what we are doing during lock down.

4. Businesses and venues

To reduce social contact, the Government has ordered certain businesses and venues to close. These include:

all non-essential retail, including, but not limited to clothing and electronics stores, vehicle showrooms, travel agents, betting shops, auction houses, tailors, car washes, tobacco and vape shops.
indoor and outdoor leisure facilities such as bowling alleys, leisure centres and gyms, sports facilities including swimming pools, golf courses and driving ranges, dance studios, stables and riding centres, soft play facilities, climbing walls and climbing centres, archery and shooting ranges, water and theme parks,
When guns are outlawed, only Outlaws will have guns

The last thing I want on a shooting range is social contact, and the endless banal yakking and bullshi**ing that usually goes with it............

And as for classifying anyone over 60, regardless of whether or not they have anything wrong with 'em, as "clinically vulnerable", words fail me................

Dromia, is that Erse or Gaelic?
