E) Generally, I won't be wearing a mask but I will put one on when entering shops or in close contact with strangers. Not so worried about Covid anymore, (double jabbed) but I think it's a good way to reduce my chances of the flu. I have the jab every year but the flu jab is way less effective than the Covid jab (49%), normally I'd feel a bit of a muppet wandering around with a mask, but this new normal gives me a licence to keep wearing the mask. Besides I still have a hundred FFP2 masks that I ordered from Amazon to go through.

Vaccines have varied effects:
a) they can stop you from catching it completely
b) you catch it but don't get seriously sick
c) as b but you are spreading the bug
d) in very rare cases they don't work for you

This isn't just Covid, this is vaccines generally. I remember at University thirty years ago, we were learning how to make vaccines. Part of the process was growing flu virus in chick embryos, now this was a modified virus that died out at human body temperature but the little buggers mutate like crazy, so just to be sure, we were all fully masked and gowned, working with our hands inside cabinets.

Viruses can mutate at a whim, the best plan is to reduce the amount of virus in circulation and thus reduce the chance of a bad mutation. Anyone who tells you we can defeat or control mother nature is talking b*llocks, the best we can do is live with her in the most normal way we can.

I'll be contiuing to wear mine in any indoor confined space with people. Why? Because I'm a biologist, I've weighed up the evidence and, for me at least, the evidence is compelling that masks, in settings such as this, have significant value in reducing transmission. I'm also not tthe kind of snowflake who gets upset at the thought of doing it.

This pandemic is on the wrong course again. ANYONE who has the virus is a potential generator of new strains. We've been lucky this far that none of the new strains have been able to subvert the vaccines. If that does happen, we could be looking at a return to strict lockdowns again over the winter, tens, if not hundreds of thousands of additional deaths and who knows what else.

I will continue mask wearing as I have found that a good one will give some protection against farts.

Even better if the mask has a layer of activated charcoal built in............you won't smell a thing.

How scared will the local kids be seeing your ugly mug.
They will also realise you are not local and break out the burning hay bales.
