I used a 22" M2 in the states and it would only hold 8 in the tube. The yanks like to load the mag tube and then leave the shotguns on a table until you're ready to shoot. I asked and was told it was fine to ghost load the 9th round and keep the chamber clear. Nobody even checked...

Mustn't have been an IPSC match as you wouldn't be allowed to do that. I suppose that practice would speed up the match a bit though, rather than waiting for competitors to load and unload their guns are the start and finish.
