Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.

If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

dispatch with crowbar

i can see a situation where that would be required, if the animal was strugling to much to take a safe shot then stun animal first and then dispatch but crowbar only no way

They did drag it into the woods and leave it to suffer for two days before returning to it .
Plenty of time to get a vet to humanely destroy it with an injection or get a stalker who is licensed to do humane dispatch on the road side , no excuses for what they did .

Presuming that the officers in question were equipped with standard issue pistol, how they came to the decision to bludgeon the animal to death is beyond me. Being dispatched on a second occasion to humanely euthanize the animal surely could of been carried out with the use of this pistol, within the woodland and safely.
