Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.

If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

Some people one can discuss with, some you can't.
Well - this will probably be the last time I say this, as you clearly have absolutely no wish to ever resolve your differences, but only want to perpetuate the hostility:

One class of people you can't discuss with are those who want to do nothing except call you a nutjob and tell you to STFU. You are being as intransigent and unreasonable as you say CP is, and that's a shame.

No, someone with a different view to you. I'm not here to argue for or against his position, or yours, but to try to get you to change the way you deal with that difference. CP might have some valid opinions. So might you. What both of you need to do is to consider facts, and employ evidence-based decision making. Where the evidence is unclear, or incomplete, there you have a space where you can discuss the differences between you, and, hopefully, lessen them , or make them less contentious. What neither of you may do is to ignore solid evidence just because it doesn't support your prejudices.

And nor should you say things like that about him. Whatever the gulf is between you, and no matter how unbridgeable it is, one thing I can say for certain, people standing at the edge of it shouting things like "nutjob", and "STFU" isn't going to narrow it one bit.
Well, lets hope I can say this........bo...cks! :p

Are you really on the right forum?

You don't shoot, appear to have no intention of shooting, find a contrary point to nearly every thread you post in and put down the locals.

Chris Packham won't come on here to debate with the likes of us (not a big enough exposure setting for his need to be seen/heard/read) and this is a refuge where we can spout nonsense and vent our spleen (whatever that means) with many like-minded folk.

I know a non-shooter, non-countryside person who has met him, and she thought he was a bit of a nut-job as well, and she actually worked in television/media at the time, so by default is a bit of a nut-job herself lol

Why do you want to exacerbate the conflict? Why do you want to make him even more opposed to the shooting community than he is now?
How can he be any more opposed to the shooting community than he already is .

So far he has never shown any willingness to consider facts that do not meet his agenda .

I guess it is important to understand your potential new hobby fully before diving in.
