This picture is 29 years old and I'm shooting from the hip because it was the only time we ever got range time without supervision.

I'm guessing you must be of a similar age to me. I avoided national service in 1990 because I went to study law at Wits. Otherwise I would have been with the artillery chaps at Potch (which is ironic because I had a spent a weekend with them in my last school year during "cadets").

There aren't many schoolboys who can say they fired an 88mm howitzer at a bus a few km away.

Sigh, those were the days...

Was on my 2nd 2 month camp by 1990, the year I turned 21. Potch would have been nice, my training unit was at Walvis Bay.
