Wot I did on me holidays.

#1 Post by BamBam »

So got myself entered into the 2017 3 Gun Pro-Am at Rockcastle Shooting Centre in Park City, Kentucky.
Had shot it before in 2014 and know that they keep a few open spaces for us foreigners to register. ;)

Guns to use can be a problem, but Lantac USA were sponsoring and hosting a side shoot at this very match, so borrowing a Lantac Raven in .223 and a Glock 17 was much easier than it would have been here in the UK.

The Salient Arms M2 shotgun I rented from the owners of Rockcastle.

The Lantac USA side shoot.

3 paper, 2 shots on each in the shortest time.
Fastest time was 1.18 seconds!
Not me tho, I was just sub 2 seconds.
The winner was random draw for a Lantac E-BCG, almost $300 of prize.

Plenty of Lantac goodies on the prize table.

Handing strangers a camera and have them run after you can be a problem, so the match footage was not the best. Of the 7 stages we shot managed to get 3 decent vids.
Blame the heat and the humidity for any and all of my errors...

Each stage had a par time, ranging from 90 to 180 seconds depending on the length of the COF. Not completing the stage could amount to lots more time penalties, my very first stage of the match cost me 90 seconds in penalties as I went to war with a 30 yard plate rack with the Glock. Timed out before I could get to the shotgun section where should have been stronger...
Anyway it was loads of fun and the squad I shot with were excellent people.

Good Job!! So now sign up for the NRA World Shooting Championships!! no problems there with guns.. all guns and ammo provided.

This years event is in a couple of weeks, so may be full now (capped at 300), but sign up next year!!

Errr... no.. unless you count Co2.. :D

I think the only side shoots were Pyramid Air, and a practical pistol stage sponsored by a Kahr Arms...(??)

But they do have a $250,000 prize table, mainly full of stuff that we can't own over here  but JSC and myself did come home with a fairly decent scope each.

The nice thing is you get to try a load of different toys, and everyone shoots with them, pros and amateurs alike, so if you want to really compare yourself with Jerry Mikulek or Doug Koenig, without their top notch kit, this is the plasce to do it..

I picked up a Voodoo Tactical double rifle case, Warne scope tools, Magpul mags and the usual stickers and stuff from the prize table.
The random prize draw was in my favour this time.
I probably could have found a higher value prize, but the free beer got the better of me.

I'd love to get over there and do a proper 3 gun match some time. Looks like you had a great time. I've already got an AR-15 over there, which was a prize I picked up at the WSC a couple of years ago, but I've only shot it once since.

As Daryll says, give the WSC a look. It's a great match if you like shooting different guns and disciplines and with everyone using the same equipment, a proper level playing field.
