Dobrý den,

Long time no speak. Have you had chance to get to Eley yet? How did it go and was Eley better than Lapua?

Hi All,

Trip to Eley went well, footage all ready to publish, just waiting for the all clear from Eleys marketing dept. manager to let me use the logos and let me know there's nothing in there they're not happy with me posting.

Will report back soon :)

Dobrý den OneShotZero... Still trying to figure out who you are! It's a mystery! :D

Apologies for the delay on this, if anyones still waiting.

I have finally got permission from Eley to post my footage, a few tweaks and re-rendering the videos and I can start posting.

Watch this space :)

Steve, can I be very mercenary here and ask how much it costs to go through the batch testing process that you have recently experienced? The website says:-
To recreate the ELEY Customer Range test at home, you would need to purchase at least 1,000 rounds of ELEY tenex that will be used in the test process. That is a lot of ammunition just for one test which works out quite costly.
Which would be around £250 (??).

Hi Les,

What they're saying is that you'd need to buy 1000 rounds of tenex in order to do the testing at home, or at your home range.

Because I used 18 batches of Tenex (The number depends on how many batches they currently have in stock), I'd have had to buy 18 (different batched) boxes of eley (50 in a box) which is 900 rounds of ammunition in order to replicate the test, however actual use for testing is half that number.

The total number of rounds that I went through was

10shots *18 batches = 180

Then we used all batches under 16mm/with a good score and shot a further 30 rounds for a 40 round group, in my case 9 batches.

30shots * 9 batches = 270

Total shots of tenex during period = 450 rounds.

The cost behind the testing is not a fixed price to go there and do it, it's an additional price on the selected box of ammunition. That price depends on your RFD, but it actually costs the RFD more to buy the specific batch of ammunition on your behalf.

Eley don't sell direct to customers, or rather, they do but at a much much higher rate than normal RFD's, as some were complaining that people could just go direct to Eley and not bother with RFD's so they hiked up their prices to satiate the RFD's who buy their stock.

I'm not sure how much extra it cost me, but all in for 5k rounds it cost me £1125 - or £11.25 per box. Yikes.
