Especially the last one....6) Always send apprentices for "long weights", buckets of steam, tartan paint and the special quadrilles used for drilling round square ovals.

Up here they would give young new starts a folded up piece of paper with the instructions to give it to the, Keeper/shepherd/joiner/ploughman etc etc.
On it was written:

It was amazing how far some of them would go before they though about reading what was on it.
