not what you wanted to hear? sorry

It's not that, I know what happened during WW2 and had first hand accounts from uncles etc that served.I made the original post to highlight the many hours of work that someone had put in to bring these photos to life and it turns into a debate about how bad the Russians were and education systems!.

I posted the same link on a US forum and every comment was about how good the work is and links to other such photo. For once it would be nice if a post was accepted for what it is.

The pictures you posted are excellent! I am also intrigued by this movie.

I'm fascinated by the difference in which the two world wars were fought. The innocence of the soldiers in the first world war which turned from the old cavalry on horse back mentality into the first mechanised war, then the extreme brutality of man against his fellow man in the second world war.

Any examples of what we were taught about WW2 that are very different to what actually happened. ?

Soviet troops' revenge exactions in are well known and rightly condemned .

Muslims troops under French uniforms after the battle of Monte Casino launched a campaign of systematic mass rapes of children, both boys and girls, and of course women with a hight estimate of 60,000 cases . The magnitude of those crimes lead to the creation of a specific term "Marocchinate" to describe the mass rapes and killings.
In the same fashion the Morocans will carry on once on German soil & will leave a trail of murders and rapes while advancing mainly in Constance, Bruchsal, Freudenstadt and Stuttgart.

I give you a clue, I was certainly never ever taught any of the above ... O:-)

BTW great coloured fotos , thanks for sharing the link Snayperskaya !!

That one is astonishingly good for a colourisation, usually, there's something in a colourised photo that sticks out as being not quite right, but that is terrific.

Excellent photographs!

What really stands out for me in the winter images is the quality and practicality of the winter clothing used by the Russian troops.
