The pictures are in portrait mode, need to turn 90 degrees clockwise to correct orientation.

What program are you using to create the pdfs?

Thanks for the info. I use the software that came with the Brother printer/scanner . I'll have a look to see if I can alter the orientation when scanning.

Just flip the paper 90 degrees around when scanning and you should be fine! Most, if not all scanners have an arrow pointing in one of the corners. This usually indicates a certain orientation of a page (eg top left).
