Nepalese Brunswick 1841 Officer Musket

#1 Post by James84 »

This is a bit of a stab in the dark here, but I have had an 'untouched' Brunswick 1841, Early Model Officer Musket sitting around for a while now that I really don't think I am going to get time to work on. As such, would anyone be interested in it? They are currently retailing from IMA-USA at $450 (~£340) and I would be willing to let it go for £300 + postage. That saves shipping costs (~$120) and import fees (albeit only 5% as this is an antique).

The big plus is that it is in much better condition than I had ever hoped for. Having seen videos of 'untouched' guns split in two, severe cracks, rot, heavy woodworm etc., this one seems to be very, very good. I have not touched it yet but to summarise, the woodwork is very good (in relation to these IMA guns) and only has a single split from the front/top barrel nail/pin escutcheon upwards, which will glue together easily. It has about 3 woodworm holes, the patch box provided is one of the repro ones but it is a near fit so the gap around the edges will require small filling. it has no other cracks of splits and where the grime has rubbed away, I can see a lovely, deep grain underneath. The lock cocks and releases correctly and all fittings and fixtures are present (literally all of them, which is rare. All screws, pins, mounts and caps etc.). The sights are off-centre but I am unsure if that is the barrel being screwed off the breach plug slightly.

I haven't seen anyone try and sell one of these project guns on here before but I thought I would give it a try. Check out IMA's website for further details and here are a couple of picures.

Hi there,

Happy to take this off your hands! I have been looking at IMAs stuff for ages and thinking about picking something up. Are you based near bisley out of interest? If not we can look at postage. Do you have the bayonet as well?

Best

Chris
