That's why we have ten fingers and toes!

As amusing as the Metirc/Imperial divide is, what are tons as a unit of pressure and how does is equate to psi? Is it a straight conversion, long/short tons etc or is a special formula?

My Swedish Mauser is proofed to 17 tons, what is that in psi or cup?

Well.......... PSI (pounds square inch) is different to CUPS (Copper units of pressure) the two can be converted but people seem to frown at this.

Assuming Tons means Tons per square inch (TpSI) the conversion is 1PSI = 0.0005 TpSI so 1 Ton is 2000 PSI and 17 Tons is 34,000 PSI which does not sound like a lot as I though the proof on the .303 British was closer to 49,000 PSI so I could be wrong....

EDIT - oops 6.5x55 Swede not .303 -

The Swede is 55,000 PSI so even further out that I thought, I will dig a book out and do some reading.

I have an article on the conversion of CUP to PSI if anyone is interested.

They are not so difficult, I am sure Bnz41 can show you or Dirtbag, I also some good Mauser reference books if you get some stuck.

Not straight forward is trying to get the leather sling on a 4(T) right

The hardest bit on a K98 with the sling is the dam slling hole slipping over the Frosch. Espeically if its an old sling, be extra carfeull not to bend the frosch too much as the metal inside it can break
