Lee Enfield No4 mk1/2 front sight screw - top tip

#1 Post by pigsy »

I've just purchased a No4 Mk 1/2 from C&G. It's a fantastic gun. Having put a few rounds down on the zero range it was evident that it needed a higher front blade (full set purchased from DS Solutions for a great price).

The problem was then removing the odd screw holding the front blade in. After a bit of research (and being too tight to pay for the armourers tool) I got a tyre valve remover which fitted perfectly. Top Tip.

However I bought a set of 5 on eBay - obviously I don't need 5. I'm at Trafalger next weekend - anyone who wants one and is attending please let me know and I'll bring them down. Free. 3 up for grabs............

Is that the screw which clamps the dovetail in which the foresight sits?

Does it have a "negative" slot - a nib where the slot should be, so to unscrew it you need a screwdriver which has a tip that looks like the slot of screw?

If so I would like one.

It's a 3BA (or possibly 4BA, I forget exactly which) screw thread. I bought some cap head screws and swapped the original anti-tamper screws out. Makes zeroing and tweaking so much easier.

George - that's correct. It's got the negative screw head. The valve remover tool fits it perfectly.

I'll be at Trafalgar on Saturday if you want to pm to arrange collection.

Thanks for the other tip Gaz. Probably a better fix in long run.
