Schmidt Ruben k11 front sight adjuster

#1 Post by Alpha1 »

On a Sunday evening I have a regular skype chat with a group of guys from another milsurp forum I have visited for a number of years.
They are mainly in the USA some in Scotland and France.
The talk turned to the Schmidt Ruben and front sight adjusters. The K11 front sight blade holder is on a angle. Adjusters are difficult to find and expensive. I had a look on the internet to see what guys are using then I made a couple.

Some typical adjusters. Complicated but could be done. They are really expensive if you can find one.

Completed the L.E.Wilson type neck bushing die in .222. Ran out of time so put the 38 special seater on hold for now. I got way laid I ended up turning a part out of PTFE for a powder measure I'm messing with. I don't know were the hours go. Glad I don't have to do this for a living I would never make any money.
teanews hmm whats next. What does a No5 front sight adjuster look like ?.

The No.5 use the Mark 4 sight cramp.

Has to fit over the end of the flared flash hider.

I just logged in and reread this post I'm glad I did because I had totally forgot that I was going to make a .38 seating die for use with my arbor press. I have written it down so I don't forget and I will have a go to morrow. Its also reminded me that I promised to make a front sight adjuster for a friends milsurp rifle he owns.
In the mean time I have five K11 front sight adjusters that are all very similar I just made them in slightly similar widths and they will be shipped on Monday. I just wish I had access to a K11 so I could trial fit them before posting them out.

The PTFE powder measure thing ended up in the scrap bin. I ended up using black nylon rod it machines really well if you use a super sharp polished carbide insert. I needed to cut an internal taper that proved to be a bit of a challenge. I managed it in the end using a micro boring bar supplied by David at the shooting shed.

Thanks for the offer but I am posting them out to morrow he is waiting for it to alter his front sight.
I made him three in different sizes hope fully one will work.
I also made a hand operated free standing Lee powder measure out of bits and a base donated by one of our board members.
I now have two of them. I also have two RCBS powder measures. You can never have to many powder measures
